I said this during the June Jones years after the non-conference games so I guess I will say it again since ewe still have mostly the same coaches. We can win some games now. They would have challenged North Texas more if they has played like they played today.

I could see us winning four maybe. If we win five that North Texas State game is really going to hurt more than it already does.

Disagree. That UNT game was the game that ended the June Jones era. No matter what happens that game helped in the long term scheme of things. You have to look past this year regarding the significance of that game.

True. Missing a bowl this year is probably worth that.

Plus, I don't really think we have a chance of getting to five anyway...

The team was conditioned under Jones to play better during conference play so we could win more games than you think.

People have taken that approach (smu losses that can benefit the football program as a whole in the long run) and gotten lambasted on here for rooting against their team. I think it makes all the sense in the world however

The whole "real season now" attitude is why every person on this staff needs to go. Every single one. There's only 12 games. The all [deleted] count.

Playing better? Yup! a little. Bound to with real practice. Playing much poorer defenses however. ECU does not have a good defense compared to others we've played.

Quarter back play looked better but I think any of our quarter backs would have faired about the same against this defense. Better play calling, some rollouts and quick air raid type passes. Nice to see some scoring, hope it gets better going forward.

This was not a bad defense. Not sure where you come to that conclusion.

Coach Mason said that he was disappointed in the way the defense played..

before yesterday's results, I would not have given this team any chance of beating Cincy but now that becomes a must win game for these guys to reach their goal of "making it to a bowl game". Coming into this season, I counted UNT and Memphis as possible wins but suddenly Memphis looks tougher than Cincy and Houston on our home schedule. Will be interesting to see how the guys play with 2 weeks to prepare
