Something called The Best College Sports Network says...
What this league has to worry about right now is ECU, UC, UCF and USF going to the Big 12 to help create an East Division and get a conference championship game. Details are still very sketchy, but it appears the doors have finally opened to the Big 12 finding regional teams for WVU to assist with travel and also establish a long sought after Florida footprint for the league. Multiple sources have suggested that Mike Aresco is already trying to renegotiate the American's current TV deal for the league in an effort to keep these teams in the conference with more money and a possible Grant of Rights. But Aresco's response is reportedly forcing the hand of the Big 12 even faster.whole article:

This would be the final nail in the coffin for the AAC and SMU...we may need to move to the MWC.

The rumor was started by Tuxedo Yoda on Twitter. And he has been wrong about everything.

I'm calling BS. This would completely dilute the Big 12 brand.

Big 12 would implode with the big schools going to the PAC 12 before they accept this crap lineup.

And I suppose after this shocking move by the Big 12. The Big Ten will gladly pick up SMU and UH for that Texas market share and then the SEC will have no choice but to bring Tulane back in, but let's not forget about the PAC 12, oh know because they are going to raise their hoops profile by snatching up UCONN.

LOL...exactly. No way in hell the B12 dilutes the payout by adding those four. Trolling.

And Mike Aresco already renegotiating a TV contract that came into effect this season?! I should have caught it then.

It really wouldn't surprise me if there is a quick renegotiation. Not saying in one season, but it wasn't a long contract to begin with.

The giveaway for me was East Carolina. It took them forever just to get into the AAC and now all of a sudden they are desirable to the Big XII??? No way they leapfrog UCONN in the pecking order. It would have been more believable if they had listed UCONN, UC, UCF, USF.
