Chad Morris and Chad Kelly?

I seem to remember someone on here last year speculating that Chad Kelly and Morris could be a "package deal" if Morris got a HC gig after the 2013 season. Of course, Morris didn't, and Kelly (a former 4-star recruit with some character issues) went the Juco route instead after being dismissed from Clemson.

He's been tearing it up in Juco this year at EMCC and has had interest from the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, and FSU -- not sure if there have been any offers yet, though.

I wonder what their connection is now and whether Kelly would be interested in reuniting with the OC who presumably played a hand in his recruitment and development at Clemson. If Morris came to SMU, Kelly would absolutely be in the driver's seat to start for his last two seasons of eligibility here.

From an Ole Miss perspective, I don't think he'll actually get an offer from Ole Miss unless the staff doesn't think that Ryan Buchanan or Devante Kincade (both were rated 4 stars by Scout) are going to be good enough to run the offense without a major drop off in production next year. That said, if he ends up going to Ole Miss I would fully expect Devante Kincade to look to transfer... and he'd probably want to transfer somewhere closer to home... and home happens to be Dallas.

I posted that - all I hear about at work is Clemson and USC (Gamecock, not Trojan) news and that was the rumor at the time.

Not sure if that would be the case now, seeing as how things ended at Clemson with Mr. Kelly. He was escorted off the field by security:

My Clemson buddy tells me there was lots of chatter at pre-game and post-game tailgate about Chad Morris having "checked out" already and being headed for SMU...with Chad Kelly or one of 4 highly rated QBs he is currently recruiting for Clemson "in tow". If he convinces Morris that he has matured, Kelly still appears to be the favorite as he's got 2 years of training in Morris' system. Kelly came in with an "entitlement" attitude and just didn't work hard enough...and then had other well documented issues but they say he's working hard to resurrect his image. Having been buried on the depth chart at a big time program and now tearing it up in the JC ranks, SMU might really appeal to Kelly...if Morris is our guy. I've also heard a lot of talk that Morris might have been "reached out to" last year, but timing wasn't right because he has a daughter graduating H.S. this year. Caveat: my Clemson buddy and his tailgate friends are not "inner circle" so it appears to be just speculating...but interesting none the less

All I know is that his current QB Deshaun Watson is an incredible talent. I would love to see that kid follow Morris to SMU.
