Yes this year stinks but you have an administration willing to pony up 4 million dollars to land a coach the caliber of Mac Brown, a guy who won a national championship and all you can do is [deleted] and complain. Do you realize how fortunate you are? You have a guy like Larry Brown who has completely turned around your fortunes in basketball and now a chance to land a guy that could do the same thing in football. Mac Brown if paired with the right assistants could do wonders at SMU.

While it's a small group who feel this way, you're right. It really doesn't make sense. That said, I believe most would be thrilled to have Mack Brown.

I think people are understandably reluctant to bite off on another older guy - scared that he doesn't have fire in his belly. We understand this job - and it is not easy putting SMU on the map. If he is doing because he has a chip on his shoulder, that will fade quickly, and we will have 6 years left on a contract. Rick will need to discern if he is in it for the long haul and understands the obstacles, and has a plan for getting through or around them.

Nobody can deny he is already a Texas coaching legend, and if it comes together and he is really motivated then it could be exciting. It just smells a bit funny to me right now - both the dollars and the term.

This entire situation is playing out exactly like the Larry Brown hire, it's unreal. The same complaints, the same questions.
I for one would be more than happy to have Mack here.

Very well might be an agent leak-also I wouldn't be surprised if some other big names are linked IF we are paying 32 Million-everybody likes a raise-we won't get them but you might see some backdoor interest from some names looking for leverage
