The narrative is still out there that you can't recruit or win at SMU according to Cowlishaw. The flat out ignorance displayed in the media is incredible.

Everyone seems to be talking about SMU not assisting coaches like other schools do, maybe they are right since everyone outside SMU seems to point that out.

Time will tell but I have a feeling that the next coach, whomever that may be, will prove the lazy media & JJ wrong.

Sherrington thinks Mack would be great, Cowlishaw thinks that he would be terrible. Which is it DMN!?

I just enjoy the fact that the DMN is writing about SMU for a change.

Tim Cowlishaw: "They would hire Mack Brown to make a splash and make news which is the exact wrong reason to do it. Mack wasn't getting top players his last four years at UT. There are far more restrictions academically on the players you can get at SMU". "SMU is not going to to give coaches the same opportunities to get players that other schools do".
So is this true or not?
Doesn't Stallion say we are on equal fields as far as academics for football players?

Then again, June did not recruit many of those blue chip players that would possibly need a little boost in getting admitted. June never tried, I remember him saying "we are not going to get the kids that OU, UT, A&M and Baylor get".

Why do you still have to ask? These are the media talking points and Cowlishaw is an uninformed member just spouting this nonsense without doing a lick of research himself.
Keith Frazier got in. Any kid that can get into a Big 12 school can get in here. Alabama or Auburn recruits, maybe not

Well done, football blog
“@SmuFootballBlog: .@TimCowlishaw this isn't a criticism but could u provide a specific example of an "academic restriction" @ #SMU ?â€

Most of these guys only regurgitate what JJ told them. The only specific item I recall is the IPF. We hear generalities like "more restrictions academically", or "It's tough". I've never heard any specific items mentioned. These guys need to be called out.

Cowlishaw thinking it's a terrible move actually makes me think it is more of a good move.
