Coaching Search Question

Does anybody know whether SMU plans to zero in on a single Coaching candidate after doing their due diligence or whether they plan to come to say a final 3 and then interview each and then make a choice. Knowing SMU I fear the first option. I'd personally like the committee to get a first hand look at say Chad Morris, Philip Montgomery, Tom Herman and Lincoln Riley etc. I still don't understand why no one mentions Montgomery. Maybe the interview process might demonstrate the reason but on paper he is the Top Coordinator with more experience, calling plays for the top offense in the country over several years. He coaches at a private school and has years of Texas experience. You got to interview him

I started beating the Philip Montgomery drum about a year ago. I would also add Tom Herman to your list

He is on stallion's list - unless stallion edited after your post.

Herman sounds like a great candidate. Kind of reassuring that we have options, at least in theory.

Dang Stallion-Your top 4 list is the same as mine. I agree with Baylor OC! He is an impressive guy. Who is our default if these guys say No? Orgeron?

We left of Meacham at TCU.

Hopefully the committee does have a short list and interviews them all. With all the good candidates, though some may not be interested, it would be a shame not to bring them in and let them make their case for the job.

I honestly wonder if this season is scaring candidates away from SMU.

It's an outlier when you consider the past 5 years...

I have begun to believe that Montgomery might have a lot of Norv Turner in him. Everyone seems to think that he is a great OC, but I haven't heard his name seriously mentioned for any job. Not one.

Think of it as filtering. Fear is not an attractive quality in a head coach.
