I work in Greenville SC, 20 minutes from Clemson. I heard today from a fellow attorney that follows the Tigers very closely and donates substantial money to the program, that he is 90% sure Chad Morris is going to SMU and that Clemson will look to hire Lincoln Riley from ECU as their new OC should Morris bolt.

Take it FWIW. He knows I'm an SMU fan, but this was out of the blue and unsolicited.

i thought Riley just inked a new 2 year deal to stay at ECU back in January, but he's making peanuts so the buy out can't be too bad.

That would be good for both Morris and Riley.

Where there's smoke there's fire. I've been hearing too much of Morris' name attached with us. I think barring a major breakdown in negotiations we have found our next head ball coach.

I hope this is true but it could also be a smoke screen for somebody else.

IIRC when Jones was hired there were stories that the Paul Johnson talk had been a smokescreen. Or was that just from the WDNWHA crowd?

IIRC the Paul J. talk was real. However, I think he was just using us to get a better deal elsewhere.

Paul J. and Rick N. were both very real. They just strung along Orsini until they got better job offers.

Johnson was real. He was the first choice. They believed Justin Willis would have excelled in Paul Johnson's system.

They did not anticipate any BCS Conference team's interest in Paul Johnson because of his gimmicky offense. I am not sure Johnson expected either. I wouldn't have expected it either until GT got involved.

You want the gimmicky offense, with a great coach that wins, that fits Matt Davis to a T, look no further than Georgia Southern & Willie Fritz.

we just got rid of a coach with a 'gimmicky' offense. Let's go with one that actually has a balanced system ala Morris or Herman.

Personally, I have no problem with running a non-traditional offense.

Its going to be chad morris. Thats the talk on campus
