Talked with a guy close to the Memphis program and a local Little Rock businessman. In other words, no SMU connection. He said he heard Houston Nutt was a done deal for SMU.

Well, that sure would be a surprise.
I will always like him for that time Arkansas beat Texas and Nutt said something along the lines of how fortunate he was to coach a team that was able to beat a team with such great recruits.

Why would we wait to announce this? He's a free agent. Not going to happen unless our top two or three say no.

Nutt would certainly be an SMU type hire (ala June Jones), instead of a real hire like Morris or Herman.
Actually makes sense given SMU's athletic history.

Please realize that although I believe Nutt would be an excellent choice, most here do not. My informant has no inside knowledge of SMU. And a poster on our site who does have inside knowledge has said the choice will please us. That tells me Nutt is not in the loop but I thought I would pass on what I heard.
