First time poster here. I could not be more pumped about the new hire. Any information or speculation as to who Morris will be bringing in? Will my local high school team (Lake Travis) be looking for a new head coach this time next week?

That's definitely one of the rumors.

Welcome to the board. Look for Jeff Scott and Marion Hobby to follow Morris to SMU.

I too have heard that we will have at least one (maybe a few) high school coaches on the staff.

Not sure how to feel about it. Hank Carter is probably plenty capable of contributing in a huge way, but Todd Dodge made the mistake of surrounding himself with HS coaches at UNT, and we remember how that worked out.

I'm guessing the new OC and DC will both be former tigers but from two different teams

It's not like all nine assistants will be plucked straight from HS.

i hope not - we need some recruiting experience in the position coaches. One or two HS is fine, but i hope 2 max

Need a bad [deleted] strength guy who can start right now.

If we have a 3 million budget for assistant coaches we won't be pulling a lot from high school

Who would be the best HS coach to get for recruiting purposes? The Cedar Hill one? Is that even realistic?

I'm trying to get excited about the hire if we hire him. If anything, it looks like he'll bring some energy which we haven't really had since the 'stache. Will be fun to watch the recruiting news this offseason (I hope).

FootballScoop reporting that App. State WR coach Justin Stepp is Morris's first hire.

For some background on Stepp, he was Morris' GA at Clemson before going to App state. Something notable is that two wide receivers from Appalachian state signed NFL contracts during his time there
