In a vacuum with no prejudices, I dont know that I'd say "yeah I'll have Riley" over Pellini

Just emailed a co-worker that has been a season ticket holder for Nebraska for 20+ years and got this back....
"Yeah I don’t get this at all… Makes absolutely no sense!!!!!!!!!!!
He has a WAY worse record than BO and has never won a conference title!!!!!!!!!!!! And to top that off he actually has a LOSING conference record over his 14 seasons at OSU. UGH!
I’m completely baffled with this!!!!!!!!"

I know Mike and I would have been happy to have him at SMU, even though I doubt he'd have been a popular choice here. He's a good coach.
That said, this is the second time he has left Oregon State to coach elsewhere.

That AD will probably be fired if Riley is not what is expected. If he would have hired a more acceptable candidate he would have had some extra rope if he had not performed.

You know what's nuts? It isn't too crazy that we could be saying down the road that we have a better coach than Florida and Nebraska do.

Neb. could have done better and I suspect the fans will have a short leash on this situation.

If our coach outperforms their coach, "down the road" he will be somebody else's coach.
But, that will be a good thing because getting your coach stolen means other see the program as a winner. Nobody steals June Jones from you!

I think they did okay on this one.
They absolutely got a proven HC, and one from a name conference. Oregon State is the Iowa State of the Pac 12 - no natural advantages except for conference membership and consistently overlooked by their bigger, stronger, richer in-state sister school. Riley took that and turned them into a consistent top 25 team.
Nebraska will pay more money with lesser competition and, I think, provide Riley with similiar recruiting challenges. Good for him, too.

ASU tries but then their fans actively rebel

More from my cornhusker buddy.... Apparently the whole fan base it pissed off. He works remotely from Lincoln.
"That’s what baffles me… Bo was apparently an [deleted] to work with and I get it if he is a nice guy but they came out saying they fired Bo for losing big games… I don’t know that I see this make any sense.
Still a husker fan and I’ll cheer as loud as ever but I just plain don’t get this at all…"
