How Long Before TCU Drops Us From the Schedule?

Seriously,

They have been better than us forever, but back in the day when they were in smaller conferences it at least made sense for them to play a cupcake in the area. Now that they are a big boy in the Big-12 and have as good a shot as anybody in winning the first national playoff, it makes no sense for them to play us.

Travel budget is no longer an issue and they play plenty of Texas schools in the Big-12. If they want an easy win, it makes more sense to play someone out of state. You have to believe they will drop us forever here very soon.

I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet but we have 4 games left it probably ends after that if we're still a drag on their SOS.

If we improve quickly under Morris it may not happen....a couple more weak years and it's a virtual certainty.

TCU's current schedule (One FCS, One Major Conference home & home, + SMU) seems to be adequate to impress the playoff committee. Baylor on the other hand does not schedule major conference opponents and is ranked sixth. Having said that, I think TCU will play SMU frequently, just not every year.

When we get into the Big12, TCU will get to play us every year! No comments necessary, let me just bask in that a while.

Did we threaten to drop them when we won 14 straight?

Having a natural rival who is only 25 miles away, and beats you on occasion to make it
interesting is a great bargain :!:

Go away RASS ROLL :!: You or your friends have worn this inflammatory post out.

Even if we beat them every now and then under HCCM. Its a historic rivalry. And Gp voted against playing P5 only on that poll

TCU doesn't need to drop SMU....
So not as long as both are playin' football.

I don't want to even hear about TCU dropping SMU when we have annual FCS games. If we are worried about SOS then that's the first place we should look for a scheduling change. I do want SMU's admin to be flexible with scheduling us so that TCU doesn't miss any opportunities to play P5 teams ooc. Iirc after our upcoming cycle it might be necessary for SMU to start the next cycle in Fort Worth in order to compensate for the Cal game, which would mean back to back years in Fort Worth.

Anyways, hope we keep SMU as an annual opponent and replace the FCS game with Texas FBS team, BYU, MWC team, or 2nd/3rd tier power 5 team.

Don't we want a cupcake schedule to try to become bowl eligible again?
