BYU - SMU to Big 12?

Can someone give me the unbiased call on why the Big 12 wouldnt immediately fix what just happened today and name SMU and BYU members of the Big 12.
BYU is obvious choice and the one commodity that makes sense to a few conferences.
SMU or Cincinnati make alot of sense --- cant see Memphis or Houston getting the nod.
SMU BASKETBALL performance and recent investment in our program may give us slight edge.
Perhaps Chad Morris made SMU make it very clear to him what discussions have been had if at all regarding Big 12 sniffing around SMU? Chad is no dummy - can we view his hire as another good signal?

If they do expand it will be with eastern teams to balance W. Va in my opinion.

SMU brings nothing to the table. BYU has their own TV contract and present scheduling difficulties since they will not play games on Sunday's

Exactly - and don't forget the Sunday thing extends to all sports.

As long as UT is around with the Longhorn Network, they will never take BYU with their network.

The b12 is a conference that prides itself on dysfunction and team control of tier 3 TV rights. BYU fits perfectly. Add a western travel partner (ex: Colorado State or Boise State) and they're at 12.

We add nothing $$$$$ wise for TV purposes, which is what drives everything in realigment

Our only shot in the Big 12 is if we start winning immediately and if Rick Hart buys Steve Patterson a lot of drinks

Since they will abandon ship and go to the PAC 12 ....who knows?
