Watched the new ESPN 30 for 30 film about Miami U and throughout the entire documentary I just kept thinking about the parallels the film had with Thad's 30 for 30 "Pony Exce$$". Only difference I saw in the film was that they didn't receive the death penalty. Hell SMU even got a 5-second mention and news article about being the only team to get the DP.

You have to be caught twice in a 5 year period to get the DP.

What was so bad about what Miami did? I didn't see it. Free lap dances? Give me a break. When are they going to do a read documentary about the Power 5 Cartel...That's where the real scam is..

What did Miami do? As they are located in the state of Florida, they did nothing the other major state schools were not doing as well. What the NCAA did was to get involved with a booster, who they then realized was complicit in a large number of Miami's crap, then basically tabled the real sanctions because they would have to admit their mistakes. And as for the "must be busted 2 times in 5 years to get the DP" crap...it is like the defense of the Florida state AG who used the non-existent investigation of Jameis Winston as the excuse to not charge him. If the NCAA refuses to investigate, then they don't have to punish. Sadly, we had the combination of being in the bulls-eye of the haters and were dumb enough to not really think about what we were doing.

Thought it had some interesting quotes about Coker in there:
"I don't remember Coach Coker disciplining anybody."
"What Coach Coker did was...nothing."

So while the 2001 Miami team goes on Larry Coker's resume, it sounds like he had little to do with it. Also, wasn't he supposed to dominate this year at UTSA?

Glad we got Morris!

The documentary made me think we should have hired Butch Davis. We really screwed that up.

If you check my thoughts on Coker, I've always said that he took a national champion program and lost control of it. Year 1: National title. By the end, his team was brawling with FIU.
