The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Teamhttp://bleacherreport.com/articles/2308 ... hared=true
I thought the enclosed would be of interest. Keep in mind just a few years ago we were in the EXACT same spot as you are now in terms of football. But keep the faith. SMU has a lot going for it, and there is NO REASON that you can't have the success we have had. NO REASON that at some point SMU can't at least be in the position to make a major bowl...or more. And yes, it will take some time. The enclosed article is from the Bleacher Report but is very well done. SMU can do it, and there is an incredible base of talent here in Texas. All of us at Memphis wish SMU the best of luck in doing what we have done, the conference needs it. I think you have a great hire, and while June did not leave in the best manner, HE SHOWED WITHIN REASON THAT IT CAN BE DONE AT SMU!!! So give him credit, at least, for that. Enjoy the article, I am sure your new coach will do many of the same things. In the end, I hope the last sentence or two applies! And a merry Christmas to all of you! Best Wishes, and Go Tigers!
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamThank you DallasTiger. I hope with our improvement in field play we can cultivate a nice Memphis-SMU rivalry. Seems like fun times ahead for both our programs.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Teamthanks tigger. Nice note.
It is not a hard formula - but the results take a ton of work. That is the basic thing missing from our last crew. Good days are ahead for sure. Cant wait.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamMemphis had some decent recruits in 11 and 12 to fuel this
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamAnd a few years ago we were kicking your arse on the regular. It's a nice sentiment and all; and you do have good things going on over there, but SMU has sucked for a little less than 1.5 years; not long enough IMO to need patronizing advice from Memphis fans...as if you weren't one or two mediocre recruiting class from being in the dumps again too.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamThe success that Memphis has had? I'd rather aspire to achieve rice status.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamThanks to June we were so bad this year we're left with receiving unsolicited advice from Memphis fans (on football) and looking up to rice's program.
So glad we have HCCM now.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamThanks. Congratulations on your bowl win! Memphis really showed a lot of fight.

Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Teamwe will be happy to beat you in hoops.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamI believe that Coach Morris has a plan that very well could be better than the Memphis plan.

Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamMemphis had a good year, but there is a huge difference from getting to a bowl game and having a consistently successful program. Focus more on your lackluster 2015 class and the fact that it is going to be even harder now to get a few good players from Texas every year.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Team3-9 to 9-3, better than Tiki boy. I think they will be good for a while.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Team
Thanks SMUer for posting my thoughts as well. Let's see.... Dallas is 4th in Fortune 500 companies behind only NY, Houston & Chicago. Memphis is 4th in violent crime behind only Detroit, St Louis & Oakland. Dallas has the 5th largest TV market, Memphis around the 50th. We have excellent academics, connected alumni, amazing campus and are at ground zero for HS fb talent. If we can't consistently beat Memphis in football, it is a reflection of our own shortcomings, it has nothing to do with what Memphis is doing.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football TeamSometimes we are a bit full of ourselves.
Re: The Memphis Blueprint-Building a College Football Teamgreat, now run along and go away..
