Just curious for anyone in the know. Whatever happened with his being brought in as a consultant this past year after JJ stepping down? I remember this being talked about and there was some sort of negotiation - and then we heard nothing on this subject. Since JJ has now admitted that he planned all along to pass the team over to coach Mason, wonder if this kept Rossley out. Or was it $$$...

My understanding is that it was proposed to SMU leadership and turned down.

Why put a band-aid on a shotgun wound to the face?

If $20k extra would have lessened the torture it would have been worth it

I have to agree with this. If Rossley's involvement helped to exorcize the stench that June left behind, I think it would have been worthwhile...
But in the end - all worked out - new coach, new era.

I disagree. We likely lose all the same games, or at most win one additional game. By sacrificing a game (2 wins vs. 1.....who cares) we save money AND do additional damage to June Jones and his staff of con-men AND make Chad Morris' affect look even better next year. Worth it.
