Per Morris' instructions, SMU will have an empty case reserved for a nat'l championship trophy placed in the lobby of its football building.

Like Larry Brown's goal is the national championship so is it for Morris. They may or may not get there but that is a good goal to have and strive for.

If we achieve both I can guarantee we will get into a P5 conference.

or by paying your coach a P5 HC salary instead of a defensive coordinators salary, your school is a destination instead of a stepping stone. Take notes 7-11 man

before many of you were even born. Jim Valvano of North Carolina State practice cutting down the NCAA championship nets after every practice. His team was not considered championship material. they ran a string of upsets in the conference playoffs, got into the NCAA, ran upset after upset and won the national championship. a true Cinderella team if there ever was one.
He is very funny. Inspirational. Died way too young of cancer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXwimBa1s8k long but worth listening to.
“Don’t give up, don’t ever give up.â€
So our head coach is taking a playbook from the inspirational Jim Valvano. a man worthy of admiration.

All that red bull is getting to his brain, let's just set our goals on a winning OOC schedule first.

Awesome move. I hope the goal year after year is to win conference titles first and foremost. Boise has been a model of consistency in the WAC / mwc and it has led to them establishing a quality program that eventually began competing for fiesta bowls etc.

The last guy who came in here with recruiting talent and brash expectations did pretty well - securing a partial national championship in 1983.
if this annoys people, all the better.

It's not a bad thing that our coach is ambitious...we haven't had that for quite some time. Find something else to [deleted] about, please.

Who was the last program that isn't now in P5 conference that won a football national championship? I'm not talking about one given by some obscure organization like the Helms Athletic Foundation or the National Championship Foundation.
