W-L Predictions

Now that we see what's coming in, let's start yet another prediction thread.
Generally, I say we still see some big blowout losses to BU and, unfortunately, TCU.
I think we will see some very high scoring games in the AAC (because our offense will hopefully get into a rhythm by then and our defense will give up a lot of points).
Of what I know of the schedule, here's what I got:
BU 53 SMU 17
SMU 43 UNT 35
TCU 55 SMU 10
TBA (don't know who this is yet, maybe a W if FCS school)
ECU 38 SMU 25
SMU 42 Temple 21
SMU 35 Tulsa 28
SMU 45 Tulane 21
* American road games:
Houston 48 SMU 21
Memphis 42 SMU 28
Navy 28 SMU 24
SMU 35 USF 28
6-6 and a bowl game.
What do you think?

5-7, with the only difference being a loss to Temple.

Positives: New culture, new "fire", new coach
Cons: Potentially a lot of young starters, new coach, new playbook
The pros can outweigh the cons here. I could see us landing somewhere between 4-8 and 6-6.

Is Temple supposed to be better this year? If we can't beat Temple, I say we go winless. It's also a home game, which might actually be an advantage to us now.

They return 19 starters from a 6-6 team that had the #4 scoring defense in FBS. We could be much improved and still lose that game.

Makes sense. Thanks.

Guys, this was the worst team in the country last year. New offense, new defense, almost everyone is undersized (you can only put on so much weight in 8 months) and most of our most talented players aren't even in college yet.
I'm just as pumped as anyone about with the staff is doing. Morris's energy is infectious, but he's still a first time head coach, our DC has never called plays before, and as for the rest of the staff, we know they can recruit, but can they coach? The O-line is the biggest problem area on the team and Fry was a GA last year. We have a OC/QB coach who was a GA last year, and QB is probably the second biggest area of concern. I know Morris has his guys, and won't back down from anyone, but he's not Jesus, he's a football coach. There will be growing pains, and that is 100% fine. I'm excited about the future.
If we win 4 games, are competitive against the conference, and don't get but raped by 40+ by TCU and Baylor, I'll be stoked.

I agree with the new, exciting, nasty, and hard to watch at times point.

Not to mention they just hauled in a really good recruiting class. They got a 4* running back with offers from literally everyone. He's going to be a nightmare.....

Well, it's hard to argue against that. I just think many of the AAC defenses are just as bad as ours but our offense will be better than some (Tulane, Temple, Tulsa . . . even ECU lost some key pieces in their offense . . . and I HOPE we can beat NTSU and whatever FCS school we may schedule).
Who knows. Will be interesting to see.

I think it is impossible to predict how this team will play at this point. Personally, I'm very interested in how many SMU fans show up to the games next season.

I do love the enthusiasm of not only predicting W-L, but also the scores the day after signing day.
