"I had left a lot of money on the table with the Chargers. SMU was a chance to make up that money and take care of me and my family."

Translation: I am a greedy bastard, I was staying to get what was owed to me even though it meant destroying the program.

"He says the one thing he was promised but wasn’t delivered was an indoor practice facility."

lying SOB

"I almost quit last June but thought, ‘I don’t want to leave my coaches hanging,’” Jones says.

Translation: I still had a chance to collect two more million dollars coaching the 2014 season. But once I had a deal in place to leave and collect my money for 2014, I quit two games into the season leaving the coaches and players hanging anyway

Even so, Jones says he believes he left the program in a better place, and that his successor, Chad Morris, will have a better chance to win there. “SMU is a wonderful school,” he says. “I really wish them well.”

Translation: When Chad Morris brings in athletes that I was to lazy to recruit and starts to win it will have been because of me.

Eh, this wasn't as bad as the other stuff he has said in interviews. The illusion of him as a guru is gone, so as long as he is not torching SMU big time I don't care anymore. He'll never be the head coach in a P5 game.

This quote was bad, though: “I almost quit last June but thought, ‘I don’t want to leave my coaches hanging,’” Jones says.

.....ok

What a sonofabitch. Would be nice to see "Was delivered an IPF, but complained about the location, so instead they built an incredibly niece tennis facility there, and I just quit recruiting anyways."

He'll NEVER coach again unless it's Hawai'i. No college team would touch him, besides all these administrators talk to one another & the truth, I'm sure, is already out. Can't keep that a secret!

Rich Mustangs love their nieces.

And to top it all off, CM destroyed all of JJ's arguments & lies in a very abbreviated recruiting season - before his family even moved to Dallas!

perhaps a better banner for the headline would be

Football puts Jones on back burner...

Who cares? He's gone.
I'll always be grateful for the bowl games. Now I'm even more grateful for Morris.

Do we have to continue rehashing things with this thief?

We have a great new coach who is doing everything we wished Jones would do. Much rather focus on that.

Interesting thoughts on the split up of the Big XII citing the picks for the final 4 this season. Thoughts that there will only be 4 major conferences and that they will totally dominate the fall schedule leaving all non-P5 schools no where to go other than form a spring league to survive. On this issue I am somewhat in agreement with him. I have posted before that the death sentence was finally given to the non-P5 schools with the latest NCAA concessions to allow the P5 to make their own rules and in effect pay players creating a recruiting imbalance and advantage. SMU must be in a position find an open slot when the P4 happens or forever wave good bye to big time football. Fortunately, basketball may save the day becoming the sport of note at SMU.

I don't trust a football coach in Texas that wears Hawaiian shirts. That guy is a clown. I can't think of a single logical human being who would look at what he did here at SMU and think "hey, that guy seems loyal to a program. Id love to have him on my staff"

June Jones sucks.

Hoping our therapy session on this subject will be done soon. Life is to short to carry this around. Onward and upward with a great new hire and a whole bunch of young coaches and players that know how to turn things around. June is disappearing in the rearview mirror. Enough said. Lets move on.
