The scout guys say he's probably the most mature the they've EVER talked to.

So happy to to have him.

refreshing for a student athlete to realize the opportunity and not just consider College Football as NFL minor league

whoa! a realistic, level-headed high school senior? what is this world coming to?

although i wouldn't complain if he ultimately became part of the 1% that makes it to the NFL.

He'll have a business degree for after those 4 years of balling.

Proche is joining a long line of Mustangs who may not have won the most games, but they have played the game of life with the right mindset. Last years 1-11 team had a few pre-med majors, and other kids who were accomplished students in the B school, and other pre- professional programs. I think a couple of players from that team may have already been admitted to med school. Proche obviously signed with the school instead of the coach, and that is refreshing!

There were 1 or 2 recruits even considering engineering degrees. That will be tough to do football and eng. but if they get through it you know they deserve it.

Each time I interviewed him, he said he has wanted a finance degree "for a while" — his education clearly has been an area of focus for a while now. Yes, he's a talented football player who has ambitions on the field, but he also has serious off-the-field ambition, as well.
Incredibly impressive guy.

And, for what it's worth, one of the strongest handshakes I have ever received. Not sure how that translates to catching a football, but I bet he doesn't fumble a lot. The first time I met him, I thought he almost broke my hand!

Wow. That definitely shows a lot of maturity.

He reminds me of a couple SEC players with his attitude. One, Laquon Treadwell at Ole Miss who was showing a lot of leadership before he ever stepped on campus as a student. Two, an offensive lineman at Alabama a few years back that redshirted and finished up with something like a 3.7 GPA and a masters degree in accounting.

Proche just seems like one of those really, really special kids that can be a great student and a great leader on his team.

Reb, I think you are talking about Barret Jones. He came from one of those powerhouse Memphis programs. I would love to see us recruit in Memphis. They produce a ton of SEC O linemen.
