Just an affectionate nickname my feline friend. One, I might add, with a nice little past attached to it in the form of the pony express, those guys were pretty good by most standards.
It's kinda like how y'all sometimes refer to yourselves as the "cats." That automatically makes me think of a little furry critter with a saucer of milk, but that's obviously not what it's intended to be.
