I don't subscribe to ESPN insider. If anyone does and can share the story here, it would be much appreciated. It is comparing Houston's Herman to SMU's Morris and how their approaches to their jobs differ....I think.

I'm going to be that Richard and say it's great but not post it.

We're getting an IPF. ModelT has been beating the drum for a while because he's right (and it's been on the pay boards). But if the design described in the article is approved it's going to be awesome.

June only had 1 video camera that was a decade old.

Chad was appalled at a "trial run" recruiting visit conducted in December.

We're committed, and several coaches (Malzahn, Sumlin) openly encouraged him to take the job based on its potential.

Possibly of note, the article discussed how SMU is/was one of the "few" "Group of Five" schools capable of bringing to bear that much $$$ to hire a hot commodity coach that was at the top of their board.

Thanks for the TL;DR recap.

as you shared, Sumlin in fact did promote the job at SMU. Never will be an Aggie fan, but among the fraternity of coaches, Sumlin has been quietly supporting things SMU...not like Patterson has supported, but at least some (sarcasm alert)

"During spring practice, which concluded last weekend, Morris said upward of 500 high school coaches have visited."
"Morris has also done things such as deliver Valentine's cards to the school's sororities, meet with fraternity members and cater a lunch for the stadium's custodial staff."

Morris will announce something definitive on the IPF this summer. It might be at the end of May if things are accelerated but I'd expect it'll be more June/July.

And it will be incredible. One of the best of its kind in the country. Truly.

If what I was told is true, and I'm confident it is, the IPF is going to be stunning. Moving forward with the IPF and our ability to add a second level of seats to Ford, we will have P5 football facilities.

Once it is built we will have the finest facilities of any G5 program in the country and it won't be close.

Also, I know Morris has talked to several boosters and folks in the AD about doing some additional upgrades to Ford. Not expansion but adding more creature comforts and making the general feel of the stadium feel more modern. This is in addition to the complete overhaul of the existing weight room facilities.

I agree. We all know the ultimate goal of the IPF, hiring CM, the Moody renovation and keeping LB around is to get into a P5. After winning and people showing up to football games we will need to add at least 10,000 seats to Ford. I believe any P5 conference will require that.

The objective is clear. We just have to make it happen with results on the field/court. If any P5 conference has the stipulation that we add 10K seats to Ford to get an invite the money will be there for that to get done before the phone call ends.

No doubt. It will ultimately come down to on the field/court results. I said the P5 window had closed because the last three years under JJ were just devastating but I've been absolutely blown away by Morris. He is the anti JJ. It is still going to take a monumental effort but I think there is hope.

Been hearing this for just about 4 years now...

Didn't mrydel talk to Rick Hart at the spring game and was told they're looking for 100-150million in donations to begin construction on the next wave of facilities? Aren't they supposed to resurface the track this summer?

Edit: Don't get me wrong. I hope it's true...just been waiting too long.

There is hope indeed. And if you ain't on board now, you ain't never gonna be on board. Because if HCCM et al can't get it "turnt", it ain't ever gonna get 'turnt'!

I'm all in - with my money and my time. NOW's the time to dig in and get out there and get completely committed. Get to games, bring friends, be loud, get off the damn blvd and into Ford, etc. Even if our football team gets halfway decent and keeps some of these games close (with an exciting brand of football), THIS YEAR could even be fun (and we should be competing for AAC championships VERY soon - this ain't the Big12 after all - and I don't care how good Memphis/ECU, etc records were last year - we should be curb stomping those teams!). And then that momentum kicks in for next year and the year after when we start getting classes FULL of quality recruits. PLEASE LB give us 2 more years! And then we need that momentum to continue (I have no idea how we do that in bball when LB leaves - that might be our biggest challenge).

The track will be an indoor track in the IPF. We will not have an outdoor any longer. There is no room.

Dude, no you haven't. The damn thing would've been built already but June didn't want the team crossing the street. Morris is telling EVERYONE (parents, recruits, alumni, boosters, etc.) that it is happening.

We are looking to raise about $100M for new facilities however. That goes for the entire AD.
