zero chance. and we don't need a guy who is going to be here for one year. we need a guy who can lead this team for several years. he's a guy who can take a make a good team better, not make a bad team bowl eligible.

I hear that completely and I don't disagree.

That said

ND considers itself (whether we should or not) a playoff contender.

Tough seeing Golson go to another team with similar trajectory bc he would have no guarantee to start - esp as he had no guarantee at ND.

Everett is playing for a shot at the NFL and starting in a high octane offense at SMU would give him plenty of exposure and a chance to walk in and be "the guy."

Here's to hoping HCCM at least makes the phonecall.

Anything that SMU can do to make the team next year better than it would be otherwise should be welcomed in order to ensure we don't lose the momentum of the CM hire.

Golson is not good enough to make a difference with our team next year. I

f we have an extra scholly, we need a good OL transfer.

If he's playing for a shot at the NFL then why would he choose a school with a rookie HC and a porous OL?

you went far minimizing HCCM to a "rookie HC" - not sure i'd agree w that assessment as fair.

south carolina connections considered.
tempo.
quick strikes. calling audibles at LOS. getting the blitz to back off.

seems like Golson would be a great plug to mask our "porous OL."

and Golson is looking for the right fit. may or may not be SMU but i'd be even more excited about the upcoming fall if we knew HCCM and Golson were teaming up.

Fair or not, Morris is a rookie HC as far as FBS is concerned. If Golson is trying to make the NFL why would he trust a rookie HC with a porous OL? Would you make that decision if you were in his place?

doesn't UT open with ND this year. That job is pretty much open after Swoopes' improvement stalled in the Bowl game

from 247sports: sources saying that golson is considering South Carolina & Georgia and wants to stay close to home.

HCCM knows South Carolina, knows Texas, and knows QBs.

still holding out hope that Golson could be a Mustang.

no chance. He will be going to a big time program. My bet is still on Texas. Texas @ Notre Dame week 1. It's taylor made TV and I will also be there. That would make the game pretty interesting considering Texas would most likely get destroyed with Swoopes at QB
