Hmmm,
Guess Chip didn't receive the memo that the SEC only accepts 1 team per state.

According to him it's game over after this realignment. BYU is last in, so why play?

Last I checked it was 2015. The article indicates the earliest this stuff will go down is 2024.
IMO, there will be a "best of the rest" conference that, while not Power 5, will be considered D1A and have a shot at what will eventually be a Top 8 playoff spot.

Not sure how many of those teams would help is draw the "non-SMU alumni" football fans to Ford.

Nope, but it' is better than no program at all which is what will become of the other G5 programs that will get relegated to D1AA or fold altogether.

What about San Diego State and UCONN?

SDSU doesn't have the financial means to keep up the fight. Honestly neither does Fresno State. You could possibly substitute AFA for Fresno State.
Yeah forgot about UConn. Take out ECU and replace them with UConn.

I'm sure Arkansas and Nebraska would love going back to what is essentially the Big 12. And I bet Arizona and ASU would love not having any conference opponents in California, a state they recruit heavily.
I'm sure South Carolina would just love to share a conference with Clemson. Also, Auburn and Alabama lumped in with Kansas and K-State? Separating Tennessee from Florida and Georgia? Chip is usually on point, but I wouldn't put a lot of stock into this.
I think more schools will have to be let in to guard against an antitrust suit -- 4x18, 5x14, or 5x16 is more likely in my opinion.

UConn would probably just move basketball to the Big East and move their football program to the MAC or FCS

Agree with all points. Most likely it will just be another realignment and a few G5 powers graduate to the Power conferences.

Just WIN. And rope off DFW recruiting. Then see what happens.

In other words, let's start by not losing to d1aa teams/ntsu or going 1-11. Give JMU the D.
