64 teams, interesting.

How many teams make the UIL playoffs in each division?

Seems like everyone. I think there are 32 districts in class 6A. Multiply that by four and it comes to 128

Some will laugh and some will throw rocks, but I like the idea really.

It would be very doable if the regular season were shorter. I think the overall revenue would be more than anyone imagines, but it won't happen unless a group of sponsors with really deep pockets make it enticing enough to overcome the greed that drives the present system.

Some considerations follow:

IMO at least one-fourth and preferably one-third of the places should be for non P5 teams.

All of the present bowl games and more could be utilized for games past the first round. The first round games, bi-district if you will, would be on the home field of the team with a better record. The final game would rotate between the present biggest bowls.

All games past November should be in covered stadiums or southern fields. No ice bowls.

Teams eliminated from playoff consideration should have the ability to schedule additional games when their regular season is over to a maximum of twelve.

Coach Leach, who has not been an easy person to like, has an idea I like. I wish he had the rhetoric that would convince colleges, sponsors, etc., etc.

The real problem would be convincing the P5 schools to divide a larger pie in a different way, and for the NCAA operating the selection process and game locations as wanted by the big boys.

Incorrect.

Bi-District: 64 teams
Area: 32 teams
Regional: 16
Quarterfinals: 8 teams
Semi-Finals: 4 teams
Final: 2 teams

64 teams per division.

So there you go. Something would have to give. Would be 18-19 games unless you carved off some of the cash cows (ie home games and conf champ games)
