SMU has a top 40 schedule so theoretically he is correct. In practice though, they would downgrade Baylor, TCU and any other wins we get so bad we would not crack the top 8

If SMU goes undefeated it would probably be HCCM's last year at SMU unless we got invited to a P5 conference or gave him a major pay increase.

He said if so I would think we are still swinging the ax until the undefeated season comes. Whenever that is.

If he wins a national title this year I can guarantee one hundred percent that SMU will give him an extension and pay him 5x what he is making now.

Until I checked because of this thread I had not realized that UCONN HC Diaco has an SMU connection of sorts - he played for Hayden Fry at Iowa. Maybe that was discussed last year but if so I missed it.

I rather suspect that if SMU were to win the national title, there would be an invite to a P5 conference in the mail somewhere.

HCCM said if SMU goes undefeated It would get to the playoffs not win the national championship.
