James Proché to redshirt

SMU requested an initial eligibility waiver for James Proché. The waiver was partially approved by the NCAA, and, based on that, (Proché) will continue to practice with the team, redshirt in 2015 and take the field for the Mustangs in 2016.

probably for the best because he was an extremely raw player due his Prime Prep "experience", poor competition, disbandment of football team and late transfer to Desoto which was already loaded at skill position by the time he got there during Fall of senior year. Also had some kind of health scare before Senior year-forgot exactly what it was. Wouldn't be surprised if the waiver related to the health scare or Prime Prep academic debacle-didn't all those Prime Prep kids over last 2-3 years have a waiver/eligibility issue too. Could be some insight as to what Mudiay was facing when he decided to go to China

I am also wondering if this eligibility waiver request is related to Prime Prep. Still a good redshirt.

Why the formal announcement for seeking a redshirt? I was under the impression any player that didn't play their first year obtained a redshirt.

Not a normal redshirt because of qualifying issues. Waiver request has to be submitted and NCAA can 'approve' at different levels.

its different than a typical redshirt based on playing less than 30% of games due to an injury which ends his season. 2 different rules. Potentially still has another medical redshirt say if he were hurt in a future year. Deon Green has already had 2 years of redshirts for example

I heard it was because RGT broke a promise he made to Chad, and Chad's already not happy about the lack of "support" on such matters.

No, if that was true, Proche would have been kept out of school :).

There is a little bit of a chicken and the egg thing there with June that he never took into account. Yes, he didn't things exactly his way, but he also went about it in a poor manner and wasn't easy for the school to deal with. LB and CM on the other hand are getting the help of the school and administration.

did you hear UT didn't admit a 4 star last week because of a Spanish class requirement-true story bro

Alert Mexmustang

"Lampkin was not able to pass the second two semesters of his Spanish courses in high school, leaving him unable to complete his foreign language requirements to enroll at Texas. However, because he was an academic qualifier, he was able to enroll at Oklahoma without losing any eligibility because the school requires fewer foreign language classes in high school."
