Damn. I am actually going to have to read something else on Grantland.

This is two SMU stories in less than a year!

An excellent job distilling something we all know about this hire - if it doesn't get fixed now with Morris, it's never going to get fixed.

We have to make sure SMU keeps up its end of the bargain

Grantland is great, even without Bill Simmons....and I'm a big Bill Simmons fan.

Other than "Just Winning, baby!" it's time WE—the SMU community—rebrand our scarlet letter, "The Pye Penalty." There is little to no doubt that his actions have done more far reaching damage than the NCAA did at this point. (And I know I'm picking nits.)

It was really a perfect storm w/ Pye and the DP. It literally wiped out 25 plus years of potential SMU fans. As I posted in another thread, if you attended SMU from 1990-2015 you've never seen SMU in the Top 25 and 8 seasons of 1 or fewer wins. Amazing.

Maybe he'll employ the same defensive strategy back at Ford next week :)

The rest of the "cheating" colleges should write Pye a thank you letter. Without Pye punishing us more we might have bounced back sooner and the NCAA would have given out the DP to others thinking it truly wasn't a program killer.

Might be a little hard to write a letter to a man who has been dead for 21 years

This article was a great summary of what has passed and the present opportunity we have now. As everyone knows this is due to SMU fully supporting the rebuilding of the SMU football program and landing one of the most sought after offensive coordinators in all of college football. I fully believe that when HCCM has transformed SMU into a truly competitive program in a few years that SMU just may become a power 5 program at the next CFB reorganization and erase the bitter memory of our three-decade long to win again.

As someone above has said - this article summarizes everything we have known if you have
been a supporter of SMU football since the mid 1980's.

Perhaps even more devastating to SMU was the breakup of the SW Conference. Enough has
also been written and spoken about that cataclysmic event. Two knockout blows like that
plus Strike 3 by Ken Pye have been difficult to overcome.

But I am hopeful along with the rest of you Mustangs that this is the beginning of a great ride
for us. I am looking for SMU to be more competitive this year; however, it would
certainly help us along the way if we could get a major upset or two. Go Mustangs.
