You can't handle the truth!....son we live in a world that loves football, and this game has to be guarded by coaches, athletic departments, and administrators. Who's gonna do it?....You, You Mr. hypocrite reporter?

I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for high academic standards and curse athlete friendly majors. You have that luxury, you have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That low academic standards while tragic, probably save football programs. And their existence while grotesque and incomprehensible to you.....save football programs!

You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you WANT that winning football program, you NEED that winning football program. We use words like low standards, hypocrisy, and TV revenue. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent creating something. You use them as a punchline.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to reporters who rise and sleep under the blanket of the insanely popular sport that I provide, and then question the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said Thank You and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you stop being so self righteous and pull your head out.

Either way....I don't GIVE A DAMN what you think of my methods or the majors of my athletes!!!!!!!!!!!

A memory from the days when I was an SMU student...

It must have been 1957. Auburn went 10 - 0 and won the SEC and did not go to a bowl because they were on probation.

A joke about Auburn that year was "Undefeated, untied, and unaccredited," which probably originated in Tuscaloosa. It makes me smile whenever I see an article about Auburn sports.

But if you go back far enough you read that the Ivies were the first football factories. I wonder if Harvard, Yale, Columbia and in the later days, Pen,n had "friendly" majors. And of course sometimes you read that the Ivies might reemphasize football.

SMU, Stanford and TCU were powerhouses back then (early 1900s) Back then the sport was played by rich caucasian kids. Once public schools got in and the sport was integrated everything changed.
