Because a majority of the roster was not recruited by his staff. Still too many DIRs to claim a competitive game against a top 5 team.

I think he is just trying to get everyone ready for the hand he was dealt by JJ. I think he will have the team as prepared as possible but the overall talent disparity is immense. Next week against UNT the tone will probably be somewhat different as they have mid level Sunbelt type talent with no proven QB.

When I read the headline, I was thinking he was "penciling it in". However, reading the actual article I think CM is saying all the right stuff. I don't think he is treating it like a preseason game at all.

Penciling it in mind reader. Coach and our team are against pretty much insurmontable odds for a bit. Have some 12 year old whisky I'm ready.

Funny too because I remember in 2002
my kid laughed at the thought of playing there with offers by the head coach.

"It’s not going to define the season — win or lose". I didn't see anywhere in the article HCCM said it doesn't matter if we lose or he expects us to lose, just that this one win doesn't determine our season and our goals....conference championship, bowl game, etc.

Me and my +3 will be there early and loud, I hope all the hardwork he and his staff have put in with the student organizations pays off...if it doesn't I say we burn the greek houses to the ground and make all of them live in the stadium concourse ala Katrina style so they have to go to all the home games.
