Baylor and TCU - "How much is SMU getting paid?"

When telling co-workers, friends, and family who aren't affiliated with SMU about our non-conference schedule that includes Baylor and TCU, I often get the question, "how much is SMU getting paid for those games?" It's frustrating but understandable, and I look forward to the day when we are competitive enough for that question not to be asked.

That day is coming. It won't be this year (and maybe not next year) but by 2017 I fully expect us to be able to hold our own against Top 25 competition. Until then we're just going to have to fight through the process. I have no doubt that it is going to happen though. Coach Morris wouldn't have left a great situation at Clemson as the highest paid assistant in the country to come here and not be 100% certain he could turn it around. Enjoy the ride.

I just hope we can hold on to Morris by then if he truly does turn it around.

Hey, at least it's shifted from how much the players are getting paid to how much the school is getting paid. Bet it shifts back if we start having success

Funny. When I saw that thread title, that is what I thought the thread was about. If one is a SMU fan of a certain age, seeing the words SMU and paid in proximity is a trigger to bad thoughts.

There will always be stupid comments from people who have never played the game or understand it so best just to ignore and move on.
