Game One Of SMU Actually Trying To Compete In D1A Football

Today I believe is historic for SMU football. For the first time since the Death Penalty, I truly believe that the university, athletic department, boosters, alumni, fans, coaches, and players are on the same page and fully committed to building a championship caliber football program. Since I've been associated with SMU (freshman in 2002) I have not been able to say that all of these entities have been fully committed to making a concerted effort in this regard. Today is not about the scoreboard. It won't be about attendance. It won't be about conference realignment. It won't be about any of the garbage that we waste all our time on here arguing about. Today is about game one of a new era. Consider yourself lucky to be in on the ground floor of something special because for those of us who were not around to see SMU in its glory days or were too young to remember, today marks the first day that your university has committed itself to giving you a product that you can be proud of. Hope everyone enjoys the ride.

Go Ponies!

I can tell the Pullman story or the Annapolis story or the multiple Waco, Lubbock, Fort Worth, and College Station stories as well.

Pullman was the absolute worst, however. 6 hour drive from Seattle to watch us lose in the most SMU fashion of all time.

I'd walk to Pullman to see that game rather than having to attend last year's NTSU game.

The only upside to that game was I knew by the second quarter that it was going to be June Jone's last season at SMU. It was just icing on the cake that It was his game too.

Had to go to Pullman earlier this week on business. Flew into Spokane on SWA - much shorter drive. Just some advice in case we ever play there again ;).

I believe that in the next 17 months, SMU Football will do at least one thing that shocks and amazes us all. Heck, it might be in the next day or the next month or the next 4 months. It may not be today, but I won't be discouraged.

I believe in this coach. I believe in his staff. I believe in his plan.

I feel this way too. Very analogous to Larry Brown's turn around here.
