Updated Season Predictions

I originally predicted 2-10 for the season, and said the score would be 67-10 last night, with our only TD coming in garbage time. I couldn't believe how much better we came out of the gate than during the June years. I figured the worst team in the country last year, with a new coach and system, wasn't going to be pretty. I think if Davis stays healthy we could win 6 games this year.
My new prediction is 5-7, and a win against UNT

SMU gets six wins during the regular season...unless Davis gets hurt (then I say 3).

North Texas will be a good game to see where we are. As I have said before even though North Texas is in CUSA they have mid level Sunbelt talent. i will good to see how we do against them. One thing we do know is that our coach will have them well prepared.

4-8, up from 3-9. Still need to see what this team does on the road and how they play now that opponents have some film on the new stuff.

I will stick with two wins maybe three until after the OCC. After that we should have a pretty good idea what type of team SMU has and where the rest of the AAC stands.

I'll update mine to 6-6.
I'll also predict that Rebel and Stallion stick their head in the sand and claim that our scheme is the reason for our offensive line improvement and a lack of other teams blitzing and extra blockers instead of giving our offensive linemen any credit at all. Oh, and that deep throw by Colbert last night was a figment of our imagination.

I'll admit that I was wrong on Matt Davis too. He looked really good last night. I look forward to watching him progress the rest of the season. This is one of those things where I don't mind being wrong!

I had mentioned this a few days ago but you match a player skills with the right type of offense and coaching, it's amazing what can happen

Jason is really pumped up after a 35 point home loss missing 2 All Big 12 players
I said the offensive line was much improved-and I've agreed from Day 1 S&C was a major reason SMU sucked last year-but a substantial reason Baylor was not in our backfield last nite was Oakman's absence and numbers-TE, FB, 2 back and H-Back. Are you actually disputing that the Run N Shoot is an unstable offense with regard to pass blocking? I thought that was universally acknowledged
Won loss record this year isn't very important to building this program-I didn't even bother to predict a season record.

If we play as good as we did last night, have normal improvement and are lucky on the injury side I can see us winning 6 or more. I was really impressed with the determination and fight SMU displayed. We should have had a tie ball game at halftime. And, unless TCU plays better, Baylor has to be considered the best of that 12 thing (really 10 thing) they are in.

I'm sticking with 4 wins.
LOVED the Chad Morris presser, he said all the right things: proud of our guys, but they are hurting right now and they SHOULD be hurting, no moral victories around here. The "LITTLE" things will dictate if we win more. Stuff like the screw up at the end of the half (can't have that), a couple of throws missed and bad adjustment by Courtland on that one deep ball from Colbert, etc. Those little things will be the difference in 1 or 2 W/L. My biggest disappointment was our DL. I really thought we were better there in the interior because we could rotate in some real beef (Minor/Gentry/Green/Hollie) but we were very very porous there (and of course the terrible tackling). Only reason I'm sticking with 4 wins and not more right now. Must see massive improvement in the DL and tackling.
AND, I agree with Stallion. This is not the year to get too hung up on records but I would still like to see us get to 6-6 and a bowl game (nice to sell to recruits). I'm very excited about Jones and West.
Andrew Fitzgerald, Audie, some massive DL come on down! We need you. Come join something special brewing in the Big D!

You always had 6-6 as your prediction so it is really not an update. And I never said anything about Colbert's QB abilities. And we do need to improve the athleticism on both the OL and DL. You are so bent on your hate towards the previous S&C coach that you could not how see the TE and FB really helped them. We have a coach good enough to put them in a position to succeed by using a scheme more built for what they were accustomed to in high school. Also Dustin Fry is a much better coach than Palcic or Suan. If Davis went down I think Colbert would step right in and keep us rolling.

I said 4-8 before. I wanna see the AAC teams play until I change but that was a strong performance vs a top 5 team. If the rest of the conference sucks as bad as UCONN and UCF looked then we could sneak our way to 6-6 IMO.

Agreed on the DL and LB's. From what I observed Baylor made the majority of running yardage from tackle to tackle. Maybe I am giving too much credit to the Baylor OL but I don't think we will see as good of an OL as Baylor the rest of the season. Moreover, I can say the same about their DL and we ran on them fairly well. Truthfully, I haven't seen enough of Baylor to know them that well.
