Whats pretty funny is the big deal they always make about not being NTSU - that they are UNT. Yet their radio station is KNTU. gee, I wonder why…..

Just sound out what it would sound like if someone were to say a [deleted] call sign as one word. That alone would be reason not to change it

Someone once told me that the University of Dallas was nearly named the Catholic University of North Texas.

That's exactly why. When the last name change happened in the 80s (which was supposed to have happened the time before), the call letters were for about a year [deleted]. That didn't fly, and the old letters were recalled.

If UofD had gone for KUofNT, SMU would have been called UofD. I bet we would have better attendance

We picked SMU over University of Dallas (which was considered) before the Catholics took it.

That's why I've called them the College and University of North Texas.
