Quick thoughts

- June would bench players after making a mistake and they never saw the light of day. Great to see CM stick with a young player (Jones) who coughed up the ball early and ended up having a really positive impact on the game.
- There would be three threads right now ripping June for going shotgun on 1st and goal from the 2.
- Really surprised they tried to run behind Hyder a lot in short yardage. That didn't work well.
- Quite obvious tonight that he game plan was to save Matt for the second half. Ran up the middle a lot in the first, and Davis handed off every single time in the zone read. Then in the second half we let MD get out of the pocket and keep the zone read. We used UNT lac of depth against them on the outside runs. It might be worth running Colbert out there for 2 series in the first half just to save matt but still keep the whole playbook open.
- Secondary was fantastic tonight. The UNT QB was awful but they really manned up and played well.
- LBs played a lot better tonight as well.
- Lawler is showing that he is going to be a beast, just like he showed in the Spring. He has validated the coaching staff's decision to push Wood inside.
- 2nd team d line had 3 offsides in the first half. Not great.
- Great to watch us swap the entire front 7 several times in the game. 2nd team d-line and LBs held their own after a shaky start. Big difference in pressure when we move to the 2nd team though, they can't get a good push on the QB.
- Amazing to see the difference a S&C program has on the d-line and linebackers. Last year, UNT pushed us all around the field. This year, we played great against the run - the only big run occurred when we bottled the RB up and he switched to the other side of the field.
- We subbed in our 2nd team corners after we took the lead, and those guys finished the game out. Really a bold move by the staff, but it paid off.
- Matt Davis isn't perfect, but I don't think we should move him to receiver.
- We would have destroyed them if we cut down the mistakes. Ahead at halftime with a bad snap on a punt, fumble in the endzone, fumbled run inside the 20, fumbled punt return, and 4 downs on the 2 is amazing and shows the difference in talent between the two teams.

David Johnson looked pretty good after an embarrassing opener.

I think the coaches are going to push these guys and see who comes through the fire. I expect to see a lot of zero coverage against TCU as well rather than move to bend-don't-break. Amazing the amount of confidence the defense played with tonight after Baylor moved the ball all over the place.
