Vs Baylor:
16-23 for 166 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
24 carries for 115 yards

Vs North Texas
17-24 for 171 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
17 carries for 125 yards

For the sake of comparison....

Trevone Boykin
Vs Minn
26-42 for 246 yds, 1 TD, 1 INT
18 carries for 92 yds

Vs SFA (FCS)
18-27 for 285 yds, 4 TD, 1 INT
3 carries for 6 yards

Our QB has been consistent, 2 games in a row with 70% completion rate. Please stop saying he is not a good quarterback...this thing may get fixed quicker with MD at center....he is our football Nic Moore.

I agree he has been very solid since taking over as the starter last season.

Thank goodness we didn't move him and Colbert to WR :).

He has been great so far. The only thing I would say is that he needs to stop locking on to Sutton so much and spread the ball around a little more and go through his progressions better. He is definitely our best player right now and he will continue to get better with each week.

And start a true freshman with limited mobility behind a line that managed to get 3 QBs injured (plus 1 jumpy).

A red shirt for ben hicks will go a very long way in his development. Especially if it means that he won't get injured behind that line this year...need another year or so to develop the other players on offense before hicks can do any good.

There were also other thoughtful comments.

On another thread the comment was made that it actually took two coaching changes to "find" both of them as QBs.

I'm glad that JJ __________ . I can't decide whether to insert I(A), (B), (C), (D) or (E) in the space.

(A) abandoned ship,
(B) bailed.
(C) deserted SMU.
(D) got religion and stopped stealing from SMU.
(E) quit.

Feel free to add a better word or term.

I'm also glad that SMU found CM.

Can Shakiel play WR?

From what I have seen (very limited) Colbert appears to be a solid replacement to step in when Matt gets hurt. Seems to throw a very good long ball.

Unlike June who was married to his system, Morris is smart enough to call plays that fit his players (and to pick players who fit with other players).

I agree. I was saying last night we have at least 2 QBs who can run our offense and maybe 3. We have had zero the last several years.

All of that is accurate. Still blows me away that we started Sutton out at S last fall, and then moved him to WR because we were impressed with his "blocking ability".

I purposely said when because it will happen. Hopefully nothing serious.
