I never really did understand where or why that urban myth started - but it seems that TCU fans are pretty infatuated with it. Wasn't Mike Leach somehow responsible for this?

The urban myth was started as a joke on Everyday Should Be Saturday because of Craig James being a [deleted] when he was an ESPN announcer and helicopter parent. I'm hoping the SMU bro-tastic bro photo from the Baylor game will replace it as the go to reference when SMU is mentioned.

Yeah, I was perusing their board too and thought that we weird. It's either the Craig James thing or referring to this game as our superbowl.

Considering we have been playing each other since 1915 and the overall record is 46-40-7 in their favor (and 19-6 since the DP) its pretty obvious it's been fairly even matched. Also, we didn't lose from '72-'86. It seems like they just need a justification for when they lose to us.

Granted, there hasn't been anything for them to gain from playing us as of late, but now that we are headed in the right direction the rivalry should have more meaning from both sides.

No. He has never done anything bad to me or to SMU.

Basically, his crime as a parent was that (1) he tried to get his kid a scholarship and (2) he got involved when he heard Leach (who is actually a nutjob) allegedly did nutjob things to his son. In the same position, I would be 90+% of parents would have tried to do the same thing.

The other issue is politics. His social conservatism rubs many people the wrong way. But, since he is on the "wrong side," he cannot get a job while that [deleted] Olbermann gets fired over and over.
