Did Sutton play?

I'm not sure if he was on the field last night. It's going to be a good 4 years watching him.

He had 115 yards receiving and a TD. That doesn't include a circus Odell Beckham style catch that was called back due to a holding penalty. He was a beast.

He is special, but all of our receivers are looking good. I do miss us throwing over the middle. Did not try any until the last ditch 4th down play, and Suttons TD.But the days of midget receivers wearing oven mitts are gone.

My money is he's here one more year. We just need to keep recruiting behind him.

He's a tremendous player. When its a 50-50 ball I feel like he's coming down with it every time. Can't wait for 2016 when some of our young receivers are able to give him some help.

Also, Ryheem Malone looks like a player.

Did anyone actually see the hold on that play. They did not replay it on TV - I backed up the dvr to re-watch the play and could not see any hold at all. Was thinking it was make up call from the previous call that benefited SMU and granted us a 1st down.

I'm glad you brought this up. FSSW only replayed the catch, not the hold. If I remember correctly TCU was flagged the play before for UR and I'm guessing with the GP biatching they called the hold as a makeup call. It's ashame that catch didn't count.

Malone was one of those mini-mes who is turning out to be a playmaker

Hard to understand how Darius Joseph goes from #1 to nothing, I realize these other guys are stepping up but seems like he could get some slot routes or over the middle. I guess Davis really seems to be honing in on 1-2 receivers only.

Even Sammy Watkins played for 3 years. I hope this season and next with him will help get top WRs to buy into SMU as a place they can develop. Staying for a 3rd year will depend on his draft stock and what kind of relationship he has with Davis' replacement (Moore).

If he isn't going to get on the field as a WR I wonder if they would try him as a DB.

One play from Sutton that hasn't been touched on was when we ran to the left and he took his guy and blocked him for 20 yards before putting him on his back in the SMU bench. That was awesome.
There are 4 receiving positions...

H-Back TE is really the last option.

One WR is the wide guy, deep play threat. Sutton.
Another WR is the jet-sweep, bubble screen slant get into space guy, which will be Castille eventually and is Malone right now.
Third WR is more of a possession receiver, drag route. Typically the 3rd or fourth option in the passing game. That is what Joseph has been playing. He doesn't have the speed/size option to be number 1, and not shifty enough to be number 2. That third WR ends up blocking a lot on the interior on running plays.

Sammy Watkins played 3 years because he had to before he could be eligible for the draft. He played as a true freshman.

What is Sutton's 40 time? Just curious
