Why is it not during rivalry week? It's the only one we have from Swc days and makes most sense.

It had always been the last game and on Thanksgiving weekend since The American started. I have no idea why they changed it this season. It totally stinks.

From a rivalry game standpoint you're absolutely right.

But Memphis may make for a heckuva game to end the regular season.

Ford was practically empty for the 2010 and 2012 games as well.

Unless Notre Dame or UT want to play us in Dallas, we should never play a home game Thanksgiving weekend. With a huge percentage of students out of town and sometimes questionable weather, we will almost always have a sparse crowd.

If we develop a real rivalry with UH, we might consider scheduling it for the weekend before Thanksgiving (like the Harvard/Yale game).

Ford was practically empty for the 2010 and 2012 games as well.

2010 was the big storm which caused a 2 hour delay.

2012 was a Thursday night which doesn't bode well for many Cougar fans to make the trip up.
After we were up by 5 or 6 TDs everybody left.

2014 was TG weekend, and everybody was out of town.

It will take some time for SMU to develop a large enough following to host a well attended game Thanksgiving weekend. Would love to see the day that happens, but unless SMU & Houston were both undefeated and had top 10 caliber teams...not sure I will live to see that day.
