AAC lookng at 4 teams in the hunt for the guaranteed G5 bid

Interesting discussion I got from another board.

Among the G5, there are six undefeated teams, including four in the American:

Memphis
Temple
Navy
Houston

Houston plays Memphis and Navy at home
Temple plays Memphis at home
Memphis plays at Temple at Houston and hosts Navy.
Navy plays at Houston and at Memphis.

Mathematically, it is possible for Temple to go 12-0 and play either 12-0 Houston or Navy.

Nonconference, Houston hosts Vandy, Temple hosts Notre Dame, Navy plays at Notre Dame, and Memphis hosts Ole Miss.

There are two undefeated teams in the MAC:

Toledo
Ohio

Ohio will likely lose next week at Minnesota. They also have to play at Bowling Green and at Northern Illinois.

Toledo has two nice road wins. Their first game was cancelled, so they only play 11 regular season games this year. They get Northern Illinois at home, and go to Bowling Green.

Toledo and Ohio don't play in the regular season, so conceivably both could be undefeated heading into the MAC title game.

I hope the AAC gets a team in this year.

Houston looks to be the best shot. Would that be good or bad for us?

Bad, as would be the case if any school other than ours got the bid. Though a silver lining would be that Herman would be likely to move on to his next job very soon.

Good. We need to be in a conference with "good" teams. When we improve, it will mean something.

Could a 2 loss team be the one to make it to the P5 bowl game this year?

Sure, Boise State made it with 2 losses last year.

In theory, 12-0 Temple vs 12-0 Houston for the AAC Championship is the best case scenario for the conference. It means Temple will have knocked off Notre Dame and Houston will not have [deleted] the bed against Vandy. At that point, I'm not sure it matters, because the winner would 100% get one of the NE6 Bowls.

We need the conference to be in the access bowl every yearn have them actually do well. Gotta beat the best to be the best.
