http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/colleg ... ograms.eceSetting dates: SMU is working with Baylor and TCU on future schedules. With the current series with Baylor ending next year, Hart said he hopes to get the Bears back on the schedule. He and TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said they expect the long rivalry to continue without interruption.
"It's been a great rivalry," Conte said. "Regionalism, that's what's needed in college football."
Hart said it's important for SMU to continue playing former Southwest Conference rivals. The Mustangs do not leave the state until their seventh game at South Florida. They have played Baylor, North Texas and TCU, and after James Madison this week, have East Carolina at home and then Houston on the road Oct. 8.

We should always have two Bix XII schools and then another Texas school like UNT or Rice on our schedule.

Check the attendance of some of those Rice games at Ford the past 15 years.

They both need to be home and home - otherwise no deal.

Has anyone suggested otherwise?

The schedule wimps aren't going to like this one bit.

I like this. Baylor and TCU should always be on the schedule.

No, us "Schedule Wimps" don't think we should add A&M and another P5 team on top of Baylor and TCU, that is all... The perfect OOC schedule is one easy game, and then a game against either the MWC or MAC to establish G5 conference superiority, and then Baylor and TCU.

Give credit to Del Conte and GP for keeping a longstanding rivalry intact during a time in college football where rivalries are being destroyed

would love to play TCU and Baylor every year and then rotate UNT with Rice or Texas State or UTSA or UTEP (another Texas FBC school we should be capable of beating). Then take on someone from the SEC, ACC, Big 10 or PAC 12 although it might be tough to get home/home deals with P5 schools. Would love to see us come play Clemson or South Carolina in the not too distant future

Exactly. It's a tradition right now that will hopefully turn back into a rivalry

Nice that the TCU series is being renewed. I could live without Baylor every single year but playing them a few times a decade is a good idea. I like the old series with Arkansas as well, and also think it would be a good idea to schedule a mid tier Big 10 and/or Pac 12 team every so often if we can get a home and home. How come we never play BYU? Seems like that would be of interest to both schools.

Haha, well they wouldn't contribute to our alcohol sales in Ford. Also, do you want to go to Provo? Yikes. My only experience with that is from Fletch.
So is it pretty much a done deal that UT will never schedule us again? Some older posters have insinuated that, so I was just curious.
