Expectations this week against JMU...

-It is apparent that this coaching staff intends to 'hit the opponent in the mouth' on the first offensive series of each game...continue this trend.
-No turnovers.
-Better Offensive and defensive line production. O-line sustaining blocks, D-line getting penetration into the backfield.
-Win. Begin the process of learning to FINISH the game and the opponent. As ludicrous as it sounds, it would be a joy to see the bench emptied because the staters/second team have put the game away midway in the 3rd quarter. It is unlikely, but it needs to be a goal this week.
-Special teams...weren't. Our best athletes need to be on the field for kickoffs and punts.
-Fan support seems to have been building, and it is getting noticed. This past week I was in Orlando for the memorial service for my FIL, a truly loving and great man. At the viewing the night before, I ran into a friend who is connected to Clemson and UCF, having relatives who played at both as quarterbacks. He said there is a buzz within the college ranks about what is happening at SMU. That buzz needs to be sustained, not by 'good showings' against good teams that we lose to, but by quantifiable measures against lesser opponents. We need to invite fans to come to games. I am chief among the sinners in this, as I rarely am able to make two games a year. I will be making my two, and bringing a buddy with me to both.
Buzz sells. Exciting football sells. We have both.
