Someone school me on the helicopter thing. I know it provides panache, but is it also so he can hit several games, quickly, in the same night?

I hope the local sports reporters get all over this. People all over DFW have been talking about SMU and how Chad has already turned this program around.

both. it creates buzz (zing!). a coach pulling up in his car gets recognized by a few dads and says a word or two to the HS coach, then heads out after a quarter to hit the next game 15 min away.

a choppa whirling in making a lot of noise, landing on the baseball field or practice field adjacent to the stadium gets EVERY SINGLE PERSON in the stadium asking "who is that?" and then the #tempo takes over. every kid on both sides of the field take notice and see that SMU ponied up for a freaking helicopter to come see McLaurin, Fitzgerald, Kelley and Jack Anderson.

a few hours in a helicopter costs a couple grand versus a billboard on Central Expy by campus for about $8k a month. which will get more attention?

billboard is seen by more people, but the copter is seen by more people who you care about. We should be all about copter love.

Need to have some branding on that copter - big time. It would be worth several 1,000 just to have it painted up for the fall.

He also gets to more games in the copter than in a car. Most games are more than 15 driving minutes apart.

Are coaches usually at games the night before their team is playing or are the assistant having meetings with the players and the head coach can go see some recruits?

Yes that's the way it has always been-for programs that give a [deleted] at least. He'll be back in time to tuck them in

Copters are far safer unless you fly into power lines.
