They had more overall talent than SMU. June just did not recruit as well as his supporters thought.

Timeout management was horrific

Yet none of that matters if on your last scoring drive you take :45 seconds and burn your timeouts on d, knowing you're likely needing to score. The coaches knew what they had, and they made bad choices based on that knowledge.

Tonight's defense wasn't June's fault. I hate him but he's not here anymore.

The defense ia primarily made up of June's players.

Not entirely June's fault, but to say his stench isn't still around is silly.

Chad's a damn fine coach and this loss is hardly on him. it's going to take time, but the desire to blame the coaches for this is BS.

We gave up SEVEN HUNDRED YARDS TO A FCS TEAM.

It's coaching.

Coaches can't tackle. coaches can't run, coaches can't get on the field. They can only work with what they have. June left a bare cupboard and the new recruits are still wet behind the ears.

Only problem is there have been several situations with TO's and in-game play-calling decisions where we have looked lost. Easy to question. I'm really starting to think the play calling on both sides of the ball, but specifically on the defensive side, are a direct indication of the complete lack of faith the coaches have with their players. While they can't come out and say it, it seems they are doing just that with the calls at key junctions of the game. I just hope results like this don't detract from the recruiting picture for the one or two key players we need.

And how do they not know how to tackle?

You don't give up 700 yards to an FCS team without MASSIVE talent issues AND incompetent coaching.

Exactly. It takes both. The offense was fine but the defensive coaching is obviously going to be an issue under Morris.
