Just talked with JMU AD Jeff Bourne. He said SMU will pay JMU $425,000 + lodging, busses and meals for the Sept. 26 game.

There is Arkansas Baptist University here in Little Rock. Michael Dyer, MVP of the Auburn NC finished there. They play the local area high schools and usually lose.

He did not play at ABU. He went there to "serve his time" showing he was a good person and then on to Louisville under the mentorship of Saint Petrino.

Scheduling an FCS isn't rocket science. They are usually scheduled a year or less in advance. Look at the top 25 in the FCS and eliminate those teams, schedule a team that remains. We have failed to do this twice now (Montana State and JMU)

Kind of an expensive loss. I hope they enjoyed their weekend in Dallas.

That sounds easy, but bad FCS teams can play FBS schools that pay a lot more than SMU. Since SMU isn't offering top dollar, the available options aren't as many as you'd think.

I don't know what the going rate is for bad FCS teams, but if we need to pay more, then pay more. Games against JMU and the like are too high risk

Entering the game, JMU was something like 2-20 all-time against FBS teams (kinda like tiki's record against winning teams) but I completely agree with you.

If you go the FCS route, then go all in.

Win this game and everyone is still talking about bowling this season.
