Talk About Bad Coaching Decisions?

What was possibly going through the JMU' Coach's mind throwing from his own 20 or so with about 2:15 left in the first half when they were torching our defense with the run. Interception that kept us in game

And then late in the game he passes the ball on 3rd and 4 from about the 25 yard line. Interception. They had 2 downs to make a first down in that situation and could have closed us out right there.

Those 2 bonehead calls kept the game closer than it should have been

How much are they paying their head coach for his bad coaching decisions? What is your point?

Yep, they tried their best to give us the game and we wouldn't take it.

Lee was coming off a 5 interception day too the previous week.

Exactly. We absolutely had some bad coaching decisions on our end, but that was the single worst one in the entire game.

I agree. JMU was about 14 points better than we were but do to some bad JMU coaching decisions the game was closer than it could have been.

That statement doesn't make sense...we lost because of bad coaching decisions too. By your logic SMU should have won if they ran the clock on the last drive to make it 45-41.

Perhaps. But I have to admit after trailing most of the game and needing more than a field goal to take the lead I would have kept it simple and tried to put it in the end zone as well.

I thought his point was to point out a couple of bad coaching decisions. Seemed obvious.

You get into the endzone when you can get into the endzone. Had we frittered away the clock on offense and lost because we couldn't score, we'd be calling for HCCM's head on that one as well. We went ahead with 2 minutes to go. Either the defense could stiffen up and win the game, or not. If the other team beats you, they beat you.

that's right. look what happened to the giants a week ago when they were down in the red zone i think w/ 1st and goal. got held to a FG and dallas got the ball back w/ enough time to score anyway and the 3points wasn't enough. 3 wouldn't have done it for us. we needed the TD, and matt saw the goal line.

Heck, look what happened to us 3 weeks ago against Baylor at the end of the first half.

That's because the Giants threw the ball instead of running it. Not even comparable.

This is the last time I'm going to say this because it's so damn black and white but no one said don't score. I and the other logical people are saying DON'T SNAP IT UNTIL THE PLAY CLOCK RUNS DOWN. Could have at least run another minute off the clock. Or at worst made them burn at least two of their time outs. Either way you don't trust a defense that's given up 600 (at the time) yards win the game. Offense is your strength so play to it, not to their strengths.

But maybe I'm the idiot

We only ran 2 plays
