What can be fixed this week?

Obviously the defense is in rough shape. Now that we're 24 hrs past the loss, what do people think can be fixed or changed in time for this Saturday?
Scheme tweaks? Personnel rotated? Nothing? I don't know, but I thought a forward looking question would be something interesting to chew on.

Game 1 - 21 pts
Game 2 - 31 pts
Game 3 - 37 pts
Game 4 - 45 pts

Offense will have to outscore ECU this week. Defense needs to make a lot of adjustments.

How is ECU's offense? All I know is that it was great last year, but they lost their QB and best WR and their left tackle is Levingston, the Klemm recruit who transferred out to JUCO and is in his second (last) year there.

Well, our defense has played against 3 good offenses this season and has been absolutely shredded by all 3. that doesn't happen because the coaches didn't scheme just right. There are much deeper issues involved. A tweak here or there might help a little, but this is not a 1 week fix. Offense is going to have to shoulder the load this season.

Heal injuries.

Work on tackling

Emphasize taking care of the ball (eliminate turnovers).

Their back-up, running quarterback had a very big day against the Hokies. Not good news for us.

It is hard to tweek the lack of talent, depth, experience, size, strength and athleticism; JJ's legacy. We must never forget that we are light years ahead of the team we had last year. We are now competitive and everyone is gaining experience, confidence and comfort with the task including the coaching staff. Progress in increments with everyone getting a little better with every practice and game.

Speed, tackling, and blocking. The first is most important. The other 2 can be taught and require great consistent effort. All require great recruiting, but the second two can be achieved quicker.

I watched a bit of their game against vt.. have receivers that can go up and get it against man and a qb that can get it to them.

Did I mention they're fans of tempo too? Expect a long week on defense again

you have to remember that these kids are just now being taught how to tackle in practice for the first time in years. mason started contact practices as soon as june bolted, but at that point no one put any effort in, so we are starting from scratch.

Before the season started I think some suggested that Prescott Line would play LB. As it is he is fourth in number of carries and yards gained. He also has one pass reception. Is it possible he could help the defense?

On a related but different topic, is there another Line still in HS?
