What happened to our Fans? Where were the Students?

Please tell me our progress in this area isn't over????

1) Couldn't have been prouder of the students thus far and then yesterday???
2) Did devastating Death Penalty news from this week kill the fever for SMU?
3) Homecoming just last week?
4) 3:00 start?

I simply don't get it --- Chad Morris may be wondering what the hell he got into...

Even Chad said in his press conference that you have to put a good product on the field - and we aren't doing that right now.

The student turnout was shocking to me. I thought we might have at least been over the hurdle on that battle when they stayed past halftime of homecoming last week.

At least the ones who were there yesterday stayed and were involved.

Hopefully, by the Halloween game Rick Hart and crew will come up with a way to get our students back into the stands.

That would be a great night to dust off the black uniforms (if they even exist) and throw a bone to our recruiting prospects.

I am usually opposed to NOT wearing school colors - but a black out Halloween night and a cool costume contest would be fun in an otherwise rough season. (Lawd, I'm fixin' to get flamed!)

But, I did notice there were quite a few kids sitting in the shade from the scoreboard and a good number on the west side, too. Maybe there were more students there than we thought???

Halloween alone should bring out the students with one exception. The dreaded 11:00am game. And I have already made flight reservations for a 9:00am arrival and 6:00pm departure in anticipation that we have performed in a manner to win that cherished spot.

A drove of students bailed at halftime. The huge wave of people nearly trampled my small children. But enough picking on them.

Of the west-siders, it seems 85% left right about the 4th quarter.

It takes EVERYONE'S support. The poor players are still trying to compete while half the stadium walks out on them. It has got to be a punch in the gut.

Coach didn't give enough golf cart rides this week. He had no idea the apathy.

He absolutely knew the apathy of this fan base. You think a guy takes a head coaching job without knowing everything about the program and the culture around it? Bottom line is the news on Tuesday completely zapped any energy in this fan base.

It's not just the students, it's on everyone. The post-DP generation in general is the biggest problem.... They've never had a good reason to care and take it seriously so they don't.

We have to win before anything changes. Consistent winning against teams people care about, not 6 win seasons over no names.

I don't blame the students for yesterday and I don't think Morris does either. Tough game to watch on a beautiful Saturday in Dallas. I think things will improve in the next couple of years on that front.

I think anyone who was in the stadium at any point should get a thank you. The BLVD was dead so I knew attendance wouldn't be great. I was among the crowd who bailed late in the third after it got to a three possession game.
