I was a young (and very cold) teenager at that game and I remember it as very boring. Loved that we won though. It'll be fun to rewatch and see if my perspective has changed.

I was there too. It felt like forever to score that touchdown! It was nice that the Cotton Bowl was so close to home.
I believed SMU was #1 then and I still do.

First time I've ever seen the whole thing. Very wet, turnovers certainly were an issue for both teams. Seeing us feed the rock to ED over and over reminds me that, and I am in no way saying he's THAT good, but we should just keep throwing it to Sutton over and over again especially as he gets older/in better shape/other weapons become a threat (KT, Castille, Benson, Proche, possibly Audie, etc). Get the ball to your playmakers and never stop until the other team stops it. And, if they can't, just keep doing it.

Also, lookie who called the game: Pat Haden. :-)

This is awesome! Thanks to whoever posted...

I never saw this game.

A fake punt on the Pitt Opening drive -

A 20 play opening drive for SMU that results in 0 points. And what a drive it was. I forgot how many NFLers were on that pitt team as well...Bill Mass was a monster.

Dupard returing punts... Love it!

Craig James tries to throw a deep ball...

The mustang Band in rare form.

Peruna all over the field.

A young Pat O'Brien on the call...

That's just the first 20 min and first few possessions. Anyone who has not seen this game needs to watch. Well worth it. And I hear SMU comes out on top this time....

After watching the rest of the game...

Pitt seemed to be the consensus best team in the NCAA going into the season. They talk about it throughout the broadcast. They were the most talented, but lost to ND and Penn State.

I know Georgia was also strong - but evidently beating Pitt was not impressive enough vs. PSU beating UGA and Pitt.

What was Penn State ranked going into final week?

Ped State had been moved up to #2 after the SMU-Arkansas tie. That's why most of us expected that the voters would crown the Georgia-Ped State winner even if SMU beat Pitt and finished undefeated. There was some hope that a ragged, close, maybe even disputed Georgia-Ped State game plus an SMU demolishing of Pitt could swing things. But that did not happen.

I was at that cold, rainy/sleeting game. Pittsburg tried to intimidate us by hitting Lance hard in the opening drive, resulting in penalties. It had just the opposite effect on him. They didn't understand the fire he had in him to win.
Long live Inez Perez!
