South Carolina's last two head coaches had track records and elevated that program to more success than the previous coach. I would be shocked if those alums wanted an unproven head coach.
I just can't see them hiring CM. They'll probably go after Fuente because the school has hired Eastman & Beaudine to assist with its search, the same firm that placed Fuente at Memphis.

Although this would continue the track record of Beudine messing us around

I think Chad has proven himself to be a great coach, but he has said himself that his recruiting ties are in Texas. I don't see him (knock on wood) leaving Texas to coach. Besides, his daughter just started at Texas A&M and I doubt he wants to uproot his family a few months after moving here.

I maintain that ego wouldn't allow South Carolina to hire a Clemson Assistant. If HCCM were 5-1 instead of 1-5, it might be a different story.

No information here, but this is a man's career we are talking about and if you are a football coach, uprooting your family, recruiting ties etc. are not going to prevent you from taking what would be a huge step forward in your career. These guys do this for a living so money and the SEC are a pretty big pull when you are looking to advance in your chosen profession. Like I said, no information here, but opportunity does not knock everyday. I would think that South Carolina may want a proven Head Coach to come in, but if they want Chad, he is going to entertain it as he should.

Haha, maybe I am just too idealistic. And also a little biased in that I want him to stay.

Lots of "should" and "could" in that article.

An assistant from Clemson who put together an offense that might well be in the playoff this year could readily be "reclassified" as a Division 1 state of Texas head football coach

He loves this area and he's not going anywhere anytime soon IMO.

You don't get a job like that after one season going 2-10 or at best 3-9 at SMU no matter how big a mess you walked into.
Now if we go 7-5 next year then you can fully expect him to be linked to some high profile jobs.

Didn't Bob Beaudine place HCCM (and JJ) at SMU?

I think Morris would do a good job anywhere he might go but hopefully he wants to stay in Texas. Meanwhile, if interim coach Shawn Elliott could pull off miracle and get South Carlina to a bowl, I predict he will get the job. All he has to do to accomplish that miracle is to win 3 of 5 games against Texas A$M (road), Florida (home), Tennesee (road), The Citadel (home) and Clemson. Good luck with that, but I hope he does it because he could be SC's Dabo Swinney

Beaudine did not place HCCM - but he did try to get June away from us at Arizona st. Although we would have been disappointed at the time little did we know it would have saved us some big misery
