Question?

Postby Phxfan » Tue Oct 20, 2015 3:50 pm

My thinking prior to this BB thing, was that SMU, could, maybe get into the PAC. Far more liberal than Utah, maybe ASU, WSU socially speaking. Stanford has the " Hoover Inst". But this latest NCAA stuff makes SMU pretty much untouchable IMO. So what do you think the next step is? Do you hope/think the AAC can get a new contract = or near to the P5? When can they get a re-do. Does the P5 just take teams like UH, Memphis, UCF etc. ? Do they just go after coaches? Thus, the AAC is doomed to CUSA? What is SMU's next move? Do you have a move? Just curious on your thoughts. If SMU has no chance to go to the next level, what is the point of continuing. I'm pretty sure CM is thinking the same thing.

Why do you think a relatively minor violation makes us untouchable? I don't see USC being booted out.

You vastly over weight the basketball issue. Within 4 months it will be long forgotten, and replaced by other juicier stories.

Not saying we have or don't have p-5 shot, just don't think basketball sanctions will mean anything.

We start delivering the city of Dallas as a market and we'll get interest. If not, we will never get in.

ASU is # 2 in violations, USC is way to big/fan wise, TV etc. Both are already in. SMU is not in. That is why I am asking, what does SMU do next? Thanks for the input.

OK, the NCAA used the DP as part of the sanctions on SMU. I think the sanctions do affect things. Maybe not? The PAC will not boot any team. Never has happened, to my knowledge. But the question is, where does SMU go from here?

Yeah, so much in the national landscape has changed within the short time Chad Morris was hired he has already completely changed his mind.

We have no moves and are taking the whole athletic department out back for the .22 behind the ear.

Once athletics is gone, PonyFans.com will be next to be shuttered. OH THE HUMANITY

I think the OP makes some good points. PAC seemed like a reasonably good fit and this definitely hurts us. I don't think CM is thinking the same thing though. Best bet is to hope no AAC schools get poached by the other conferences and is considered a P5.5 that can get an undefeated considered for the playoff once every few years.

We were never getting into the PAC-12, they have no interest in this state unless they can get UT.

I had similar thoughts when SMU made national headlines for all the wrong reasons earlier this month.

Consider me an eternal optimist regarding SMU & realignment.

Just curious what people think the impact Keithgate will have on our chances to advance to P5.

So are you telling me our AD has some sort of Mustang Mania plan in place for next season?
